Apparently there is no difference between 0.002 cents and 0.002 dollars, for Verizon that is. Check out this link, go through the transcript, listen to the audio, and if you use Verizon maybe you want to check your bill.

Companies like Best Buy are now doing away with 8-5 work schedule because working more hours doesn’t necesarilly equate to productivity.
At most companies, going AWOL during daylight hours would be grounds for a pink slip. Not at Best Buy. The nation’s leading electronics retailer has embarked on a radical–if risky–experiment to transform a culture once known for killer hours and herd-riding bosses. The endeavor, called ROWE, for “results-only work environment,” seeks to demolish decades-old business dogma that equates physical presence with productivity. The goal at Best Buy is to judge performance on output instead of hours.

For the last couple of days it has been hard to keep up with a-picture-a-day thing I have got going on because we had a major snow storm and I haven’t really been out. But tomorrow is Monday and I’ll be seeing more of the outside, which will give me opportunities to take pictures of things I don’t find very interesting at first but when I switch my camera on I start looking at things from a different eye.

I recently adopted this cat from the local SPCA, she is 6 months old and sure is frisky. I haven’t named her yet, maybe I will name her Frisky unless I can think of a better name, any suggestions? She was playing with that strap with I took the picture, she wouldn’t let go of it. She is really playful and in the heat of the moment tries to bite my finger when I am playing with her. I have to stop and say “no biting”, she stops and gives me this look than goes to lick herself.

I am starting a personal growth project today, nothing fancy mind you. My aim is to post a photo a day for a year. Why? Because it will be fun, it will give me a chance to see how my photography skillz have improved over the year and I could also use the photos as a diary of sorts to find out what I was doing that day. I will probably take multiple photos over the course of each day and post one lucky photo on Flickr. It will be posted on Flickr and linked over here. If you are bored on lunch break at work and want to browse my photos you should be able to find a link to my Flickr photos all over this blog, if not, there is always a link on top of the page.

I got a chance to visit Woolaroc this Thanksgiving holiday and it was well worth the trip. The weather was amazing, batteries were charged for my camera and I was ready to snap to my hearts content. Since I was alone, I took my time trying to compose each and every picture. How can I describe the pictures? You will have to see for yourself how much fun it was taking the pictures as it is looking at them. You can see some of them here.

It’s time for a rant. My friend had a phone interview recently and the guy asked him if he knew how to script. A very reasonable question and my friend said yes and yada yada yada the interview goes on and he asks questions about scripting, not bad, until he tells my friend “we are looking for people with at least 18 years of experience”. That’s when I tell my friend, “what the heck?”. The guy had seen the resume before the interview and knew how old my friend would be, 28 to be specific. So I say, “in order for you to have 18 years of experience you would have to be scripting since you were 10 years old”.
If it were me, I would want to scream at the guy and hang up, whether I’d do it or not is another question. I say if you have been scripting for five years you have pretty darn good experience and know your stuff.
<end of rant>
